Walking

Sheringham Ramblers

Our groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. Most groups organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness.

You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.

Sheringham Sports Association

Sheringham Sports Association is a local charity that was formed to manage and finance the Recreation ground and Sports Pavilion on the Weybourne Road.

This recreation ground replaced the original recreation ground in Sheringham, which was sold for housing development.

The Sports Pavilion and recreation ground is leased from Sheringham Town Council for a peppercorn rent of £1 and the association’s aim is the provision of sport and recreation facilities for the community of Sheringham and its immediate districts and to encourage the take up of sport and recreation to enhance the fitness and health of the community.

As well as the pavilion, housing; changing facilities, a bar, social area and kitchen, which can be hired out, the recreation ground has football pitches, all weather training pitches, a cricket pitch and training nets, parking and open space.

The Sports Association has been very fortunate to receive grants and donations from local benefactors, which have enabled them to make great improvements to the ground in particular in terms of floodlighting and improving accessibility for all.

North Norfolk Hockey Club

North Norfolk Hockey Club Juniors section have over the last season relocated their training sessions to all weather pitch Sheringham High School. They train on a Tuesday evening between 6pm-7:30pm and cater to youngsters in the area aged 4-14yrs. They are a grass roots club and for some of our members hocky is the only sport they take part in out of school. Thier annual membership fee is only £50 which compares well to other sports clubs and reflects their ethos that they are just trying to offer everbody the chance to try the sport and have fun.

They have had great success and now see approximately 40 junior players joining them to take part in fun exciting sessions. Their membership has doubled within the last 2 years. They train weekly (term time) and play in regional tournaments all across Norfolk.

Their club coaches have also taken part in ‘outreach’ sessions providing taster sessions to pupils at various local schools including the Sheringham High Senior school and are in contact to deliver the same to Sheringham Community Primary School in the near future.
