One of the major conversation points at the World Economic Forum 2021 Davos Summit “Cohesive and Sustainable World”, in conjunction with COVID-19 was of the Climate and Ecological Crisis. In her speech (available to view on YouTube) Greta Thunberg stated “The longer we avoid this uncomfortable truth, and the longer we pretend we can solve the climate – and ecological emergency – without treating it as a crisis — the more precious time we will lose. And this is time we do not have”
Sheringham Town Council declared a Climate Emergency on 4th June 2019, and last year launched its Climate Action Plan. STC is committed to protecting the natural environment, promoting sustainability, supporting the reduction of Air Pollution to meeting World Health Organisation Levels, supporting the growth of Green energy, working towards becoming a zero-waste council, and raising awareness of the Climate and Ecological Crisis.
In this effort we recommend checking out the the following links;
-If you’re a homeowner or residential landlord you can apply for a Green Homes Grant voucher towards the cost of installing energy efficient improvements to your home.
Improvements could include insulating your home to reduce your energy use or installing low-carbon heating to lower the amount of carbon dioxide your home produces.
-Reducing Food Waste – Too Good To Go lets you rescue a Magic Bag of this food so it gets eaten instead of wasted. You won’t know exactly what’s in your order until you pick it up – it’s all part of the surprise. Great food at great prices, served with a side of environmental kudos.
– Save the Bee’s “Bees are dying! Partly caused by fewer flowers and meadows. We rely on bees to pollinate a third of all the food we eat, so we’re determined to save them!”
