Sheringham Town Council are looking to co-opt a councillor who is passionate about ensuring Sheringham remains a vibrant and welcoming place to live and visit. In conjunction with fellow councillors, you will be involved in making decisions that affect the future of the town and helping maintain the facilities and infrastructure that the community relies upon. The council represents the
whole community of Sheringham and is actively seeking candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds to ensure we can represent the whole community.
The role of a Town Councillor is very varied and interesting. Councillors are required to attend a monthly full council meeting on a Tuesday evening, and join additional committees that reflect their different strengths and interests. Committee groups are tasked with looking at issuesand assets such as environmental sustainability, youth strategy, community communication, town centre planning, finance, allotments, planning and the community centre. There is also an Annual Town Meeting which is normally held in April.
No specific experience is required to join the Council. The appointment is official unpaid work and a non-political role. You are required to be over the age of 18 and a registered elector. If you have a passion for serving your community and can give a commitment to work as part of a team of councillors who have the interests of the town at heart, you are encouraged to apply.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO STAFF HOLIDAY ENQUIRIES WILL BE RESPONDED TO FOR CO-OPTION FROM 23RD JULY*
