As you are all aware on the 25th May an extremely large sinkhole opened up on Sheringham High Street at the beginning of the Summer season. However, what could have been an unmitigated disaster has been survived well and seen the town and traders draw together. Traders have been innovative in their approach selling sinkhole pie and ‘I’ve visited the sink hole T shirts. In addition the local community has come to realise the importance of shopping locally and supporting their independent traders.visitors who had not previously visited Sheringham have also come to see the sinkhole. the Carnival Association has pulled of a marvellous job running a whole week of Carnival events successfully circumventing the sinkhole on top of the 3 other events in June and July In recognition of this, the Carnival Association along with  the town is planning a community street party on the Sunday 1st September at 3 pm in the High Street. Residents, visitors and local councillors and people involved in the repair of the sinkhole are all welcome to attend . Everyone  will be bringing their own tables and chairs and picnics to celebrate the re-opening of the road. Although lots of food outlets will be open and people can make the most of the tasty local choices which will be available. there will be music and entertainment for everyone to enjoy and a grand opening of the road. For the Queen’s 90th birthday Sheringham had 3000 people at the town’s street party. I wonder……….
