Mark Hill – Mayor

About Mark Hill – Mayor

Mark was born at Long Acre West Runton, as were many other Sheringham people. He has lived in Sheringham all of his life and it is a town of which he is extremely proud.

After being educated at Sheringham County Primary and Paston Grammar School, North Walsham, he trained in mechanical engineering and worked for a local engineering firm making everything from anchors to fire escapes.

Looking for a change of career Mark  joined the Norfolk Fire Service, serving for 30 years as a full time firefighter in Norwich at Sprowston Fire Station. The day after retiring, he joined Sheringham fire Station and served for another nine years.

Next for Mark, came Sheringham in Bloom, Sheringham Helping Hands and an introduction to Sheringham Town Council, which  he joined in July 2008.

Since then he has served on various working parties and committees. Currently Mark is the Chair of the Allotments Commons and Cemetery Committee. At the December 2017 meeting of Sheringham Town Council, he was honoured to be elected Town Mayor.

Mark continues to work at our local funeral directors in Sheringham.
