A project to build a multi-million pound, state of the art leisure facility in Sheringham has taken a major step forward.
The planning application for the Sheringham Leisure Centre has been submitted and will be considered in the coming weeks.
North Norfolk District Council’s cabinet agreed £10.7m of funding for the new leisure and fitness centre to replace the existing facility, Splash, in December 2017.
The centre will include a main 25 metre pool, a 13 metre learner pool with an adjustable depth floor, a bright and colourful splash pad for children, fitness suite and café.
There will also be accessible changing rooms, inflatable sessions in the main pool, community rooms, multi-purpose studios and a spin studio.
The project will ensure the provision of leisure and fitness facilities for local communities and visitors to north Norfolk is secured for the future. Splash will remain open while the new leisure centre is built on a different part of the site. The leisure centre is due to open in late 2020.
