With 40,000 people in Sheringham and 25,000 tickets sold on the NNR the forties weekend has to be described as a resounding success. The Town council would like to thank the North Norfolk Railway, Carnival Association, Chamber of Trade and town centre traders, as well as all the locals who got involved and created such a wonderful atmosphere and activities. There was quite literally dancing in the streets, evocative train rides through clouds of steam, vehicle parades and people parades. There was a fantastic atmosphere but it was also not forgotten that the 40’s was a time of great hardship for the country and many lives were sacrificed to give us the freedom that enables us to enjoy events like this today.
