About Our Committees

Sheringham Town Council has committees which help to manage the assets and resources of the town. Committees undertake the work for, and on behalf, of the council. The committee structure is set down in the council’s framework. Committees such as Planning and Employment have delegated power, which enables them to take actions within the legal time frames of the planning protocol and employment law. All other committees make recommendations which are then ratified at the full council meetings.

The Community Centre Committee

The Community Centre Committee has the responsibility for the management of the Community Centre.

The Environmental Assets and Sustainability Committee

Allottments

This committee carries out ongoing work, development projects and inspections of the allotments, cemetery, commons and Morley Hill. It then presents recommendations for the Full Council’s consideration, to ensure they are managed in a way that best serves local people and the environment. Central to this committee is a focus on environmental sustainability which affects all our actions and decisions. This committee is supported by the Hon. Warden Francis Farrow of the Beeston Common Management Group, and a Representative of The Weybourne Road Allotments Association, who are co-opted on to the committee.

The Planning
Committee

Planning-Committee

The Planning Committee meets fortnightly. Members of the committee do site visits and make comments on planning applications appertaining to Sheringham, which are then forwarded on to North Norfolk District Council, the planning authority for this area. Where necessary the committee represents Sheringham Town Council at the Development Control Meetings at North Norfolk District Council

The General Purposes Committee

Sheringham-General-Purposes

This committee, has responsibility for the management and maintenance of all Sheringham Town Council’s properties (with exception of the Community Centre). They also deal with other general functions such as the provision of streetlighting or the initiation of projects to provide new facilities or services for the residents.
